Tote Bag
This tote bag was made by Claudia in our workshops, showcasing some of our iconic patterns. The Leora tote bag meets the same standards as those of our baby carriers. Find below the entire production chain of these tote bags.
Materials:
Organic and fair trade cotton grown in West Africa without irrigation or pesticides.
Fair trade organic cotton obeys a double label: Gots and Flo-cert. Gots guarantees that no petrochemical products have been used to grow this cotton. This is important for the environment, but also for the health of the people who grow the cotton and for those who will use it later. It also ensures that the cotton is not irrigated, which is a big source of pollution. Flo-cert ensures that cotton growers are fairly compensated. Individual remuneration is paid per kg of cotton picked up. Added to this is a collective remuneration, paid to the village cooperative. This makes it possible to carry out modernization projects and improve the quality of life: installation of a drinking water well, school or sanitary equipment.
For yarn, we use rPET, polyester from recycled mineral water bottles and food packaging.
Spinning and weaving: Belgium
Manufacture: Bordeaux, in Léora's workshop
Manufacturing cycle: the fabric is first sanforized, which fixes the fiber so that it does not shrink when washed. The fabric is then cut by hand to the size of our bags, then sent to our screen printer, to be marked with the effigy of Leora. The fabric then returns to our workshop to be assembled using a serger and a final quality control.
